A basic summary
of the system:
- First Stage:
(Primary Clarification) Solids/sludge settle into the first chamber.
- Second Stage:
(Biological Organic Removal) Wastewater is aerated in the second chamber.
- Third Stage:
(Nitrification) The third chamber, with the treated wastewater, is aerated also. Using oxygen in the wastewater, microorganisms nitrify the ammonia.
- Fourth Stage:
(Clarification) The wastewater, which has an increase in nitrates, has continued to the fourth chamber. The solids settle.
- Fifth Stage:
(Nitrate Removal) The wastewater is returned to the first chamber.
- Sixth Stage:
(Solids Removal/Destruction) Recirculated water carries nutrients back to the first chamber. Sludge is pumped into the Thermal Processor, filtered, and water flows back into the first chamber.
- Seventh Stage:
(Disinfection) The water is disinfected as it exits the system through the disinfection unit.
